Hey everyone! Time for another quick blog update on what’s going on with me and whatnot.
As everyone already knows, Extra Life, a gaming charity event for children’s hospitals will be running this weekend on October 20th, 2012. Due to this charity, gamers from around the world will be playing 24 hours straight to raise money for these children’s hospitals.
Personally, I will be unable to participate as a gamer as I will be participating in my school’s 24 hour game jam, where a few friend and I have formed a team to create a game in 24 hours. I am excited since this is my first game jam I have ever participated in and I’ll be doing it with a few of my best friends on campus.
We’ll be creating a game from scratch based on a topic given to us there using our own custom 2D engine written in C++. The game will be PC only and I think we plan on releasing it soon after. Based on how things go, I think we might continue our project after the 24 hours have passed and possibly stay as a team.
I will be working on the team mainly as a creative role working on sounds and filling in where needed. I already have some experience with “foley” creation of audio, so I’m planning on bringing that to the table for it.
I was thinking of using this as my “Extra-Life” charity, since I’ll be up for 24 hours straight doing something gaming related. I was even thinking of seeing if we could run a live stream of us creating the game, but that’s still questionable.
I will however be posting updates of development to Twitter, this blog, Instagram, etc, so if you follow me, you’ll stay updated.
If you want to donate to my extra-life charity and help kids while I create a cool game, feel free to click the following link and donate whatever. Remember, it all goes to the kids, not me. :)
